Sparkling Veneto

Arriving into Venice airport (VCE), you’ll no doubt be eager to see the Floating City up close – and you will, soon. But first, you’ll be picked up by one of our representatives and taken via private transfer to your hotel. You’ll have time for a quick freshen up before being whisked half an hour away to Treviso, where a welcome dinner in a local restaurant is an opportunity to meet your fellow trip-mates. 

After breakfast at your hotel, you’ll be met by our Local Insider and taken to the pretty hillside town of Conegliano – the first stop on today’s exploration of the vineyard-blanketed area of Veneto known as the Prosecco Hills. Stretch your legs along its medieval Contrada Grande, and take in the delicate frescos that decorate its cathedral. Then travel onwards, deeper into lush green hills, where crumbling villages, churches and ancient chestnut woods hide among endless acres of grape-laden vines. There’s a lot to see, and it’s thirsty work – so a stop at the renowned Canevel winery, and a tasting of four of their sparkling wines, comes at just the right time. Afterwards, you’ll be taken for a gander at the gorgeous Abbazia di Santa Maria di Follina, a 12th-century monastery, before returning to your hotel.

After breakfast at your hotel, our Local Insider will meet you and take you to Venice – where you’ll spend the rest of the day. You’ll start with a walking tour of the city, taking in landmark sights such as the Rialto Bridge and St Mark’s Square, and introducing you to less well-trodden spots such as the rooftop of Fondaco dei Tedeschi, where you’ll be met with a twinkling panoramic view. After some free time at lunch, you’ll get to see this city the way it was designed to be seen – from the water, on a gondola ride. You’ll have glimpsed some barcari on your tour earlier – secretive little wine bars, tucked away down narrow alleyways – and after your gondola ride, you’ll get to see them up close. You’ll be taken on a little tour of some of Venice’s best bacari, sipping wine and snacking on cicchetti – the city’s signature tapas-like bar snacks. Wined and dined, you’ll be whizzed by water taxi to Piazzale Roma, where you’ll be transferred back to your hotel for the night. 

After a final hotel breakfast, you’ll be transferred to Venice airport (VCE), where this trip finishes. Don’t forget to swap profiles with your new pals before catching your flight home – or onward, to your next destination.
